Gaziantep Akademi Hospital

Carried out as a hospital interior design project in Gaziantep, this project reinterprets the interiors of Gentaş Group’s existing Akademi Hospital building with a contemporary approach. In response to the hospital’s growing capacity and changing user expectations, the existing interior layout underwent a comprehensive functional and aesthetic transformation.

Patient- and Staff-Focused Design Decisions

The most critical issue in hospital interiors is creating a sense of comfort and calm without compromising clinical functionality. In this project, patient admission areas, waiting rooms and corridors were redesigned with soft color palettes and natural material textures aimed at reducing stress. The lighting system was planned to support daylight and minimize eye strain.

Modern Materials and Colors

Materials were chosen to meet the hygiene requirements of a hospital while avoiding a cold, clinical feel. Warm wood tones, matte surfaces and antibacterial finishes were combined to balance the sterile environment with a human atmosphere. Ergonomics and durability were prioritized in the choice of furniture.

Lighting and Spatial Organization

Indirect lighting was chosen in the waiting areas so that patients can wait in a relaxed setting. Staff areas, meanwhile, use task-oriented lighting solutions. Color coding and signage that make wayfinding easier in the corridors were integrated into the design as part of the spatial organization.

Balancing Functionality and Aesthetics

The project’s key achievement is the complete transformation of the interior without disrupting the hospital’s operational requirements. The renewed design offers a consistent design language throughout, from patient registration points to examination rooms and from staff rest areas to the main hall. As a result, Gaziantep Akademi Hospital now offers a more comfortable, modern and functional environment for both patients and healthcare staff.
